Little Bigelow (Flagstaff Lake)

Little Bigelow is a beautiful mountain. I love going camping at Cathedral Pines in Eustis and often see this mountain in many different lights. No matter the time of year or the weather of the moment or the amount of light, it is always spectacular. Very often I see canoes moving along the quiet waters of the Dead River which flows into Flagstaff Lake.
This oil painting is framed 20x16, $499 plus tax in Maine. If you are interested in purchasing it, please contact melanie.farmer@gmail.com.

Thunder Clouds over Bigelow - Flagstaff Lake, Eustis, Maine

We love to go to Cathedral Pines Campground in the summertime and it is not so far that I cannnot commute to work. But on my days off I roam around there and paint many scenes, often out of the back of my jeep. Most of them I sell rather quickly as it is a very popular place and always produces a typical western Maine feeling. This view is from one of the few water sites, which is actually on the Dead River. It is very wide there and flows directly into Flagstaff Lake. I can't wait for summer again to get back up there and paint some more!

If you are interested in purchasing this 18 X 6 Original Oil on panel framed in a 2" gold frame, please email me. $199 (plus shipping and, if in Maine, sales tax) melanie.farmer@gmail.com

Bigelow Range in Winter, Maine

Here is a winter view of the Bigelow Range as I saw it when snowmobling in cut over areas last winter. See the little trail going down through the woods. Snowmobiling gets me in places that I wouldn't ordinarily go in winter, close to mountains that would take hours to climb in the summer. The hardwoods have all dropped their leaves, making more open views to enjoy.
This is one of my personal favorites, a rememberance of a lovely day on the trails. It is 11 X 8 on panel, original oil painting. If you are interested in purchasing this one, please email me at melanie.farmer@gmail.com. SOLD!

Sugarloaf from North Branch of the Dead River , Maine

My third and final painting while I was up at Cathedral Pines is from the causeway above the Pines, looking down over the Bigelow Range. Sugarloaf Mountain peeks up there in the center of it all. I got up very early to catch the early sun. It was lovely and quiet. A mother duck brought her large brood very near where I was painting. The light changed quickly as the mist rose and the shadows changed, but I captured the essence of the dawn. The early sunlight made the little islands glow on the east side while the west side remained dark.
If you are interested in purchasing this 10 x 8 oil on panel, please email me. SOLD

Bigelow Range and Cathedral Pines paintings

Cathedral Pines is a lovely family campground in the town of Eustis, Maine. The sites on the North Branch of the Dead River have fantastic views. I did several paintings there and will post them here on my blog. The first one is done from the Causway where the road curves around the bend in the river and crosses over it. I set up in the back of my jeep with plenty of bug spray applied. It was a misty day and before long it started to rain and the painting became soft and misty looking. It shows the Bigelow Range with the Horns and Cranberry Mountain. Both of which I had climbed a couple of years ago.
If you are interested in purchasing this painting, please email me. SOLD
