Grand Falls

Grand Falls

I love Grand Falls! Many summers I would take a ride up there just to bathe myself in it's majesty and beauty. One year a friend led the way up there on snowmobiles.  It was still powerful and lovely in white of ice and snow. Fortunately I had my camera since it was dreadfully cold and not conducive to plein air painting. When I got home, I made this little painting. If you have been there, you know what the feeling of a cold, clear winter day is. If you would like to purchase this framed piece for your wall or a gift for someone who introduced you to the Falls, it is 11x7 oil on panel, for $169, please email me. melanie.farmer@gmail.com

Mt Katahdin in Winter - Across the Field

Here is a more distant view of Mt. Katahdin in the warm glow of a setting winter sun. It is a magnificient mountain from any angle. Next summer I plan to do some camping and hiking around it and on it and paint it in its summer splendor. Can't wait!

If you are interested in purchasing this 8 x 6 lovely oil on panel, please email me at melanie.farmer@gmail.com. SOLD

Katahdin, Baxter State Park, Maine

Katahdin is always fair game for an artist from any vantage point. It is always majestic, commanding and, at times, foreboding. Many artists paint it but there never seems to be any two of quite the same image. In other words, there is something for everyone from this "greatest mountain". Hikers conquer it in their way, artists portray it their way, always with respect and endearment. If this mountain speaks to you, if you have experienced it, loved it, challenged it, this little painting may speak to you in that special way.
